News Release: S SAN FRANCISCO, CA - October 11, 2017 - A number of wildfires broke out in Napa and Sonoma County in the early hours of October 9th. Like many other people in the Bay Area, our families woke up to the frightening smell of smoke and the alarming sight of hazy skies. Over 20,000 people have already evacuated, 122,000 acres have been burned, there are tens of confirmed deaths, and hundreds are still missing as the damage continues. It is absolutely devastating and extremely heartbreaking.
Needless to say, the staff at Blue Ribbon Supply was shocked. As a leading wholesale distribution company providing a broad range of products and services to professional customers in the region, our thoughts and concerns are with our family, friends, customers and neighbors in Napa, Sonoma, Solano, Lake and Mendocino Counties. These horrific fires have taken lives, destroyed homes, wineries and other businesses. As a functioning company, we were forced to temporarily suspend deliveries that were scheduled for the area and we began contacting customers in the affected counties to determine how assistance could be provided. While it is of minor consequence in the scheme of things, our staff quietly assembled supplies such as personal care items, safety products and dust masks for donation. These were immediately arranged to be sent to the affected areas on the evening of October 10th to prevent any delay in getting needed supplies to those who might no longer have such essentials readily available. As individuals ourselves, we are also each doing what we can to help our family and friends. Blue Ribbon Supply Company's distribution center, delivery truck fleet, communication and data processing systems are all operating at full capacity and no staff have been injured or directly impacted from the fires. Although a few Blue Ribbon Supply customers have reported damage to their facilities in region, Blue Ribbon Supply is committed to making sure they are not left without products they need to get their businesses operating again.
